
For photographers looking to edit or to further develop their body of work on a consistent theme, WMA is organising one-on-one in-person portfolio review with professional photographers and curators:

Blues Wong Kai Yu
Each participant will have two 30 minute sessions to discuss their work with two reviewers in either Cantonese or English on a selected day. All types of photography are welcomed.

May 2 Saturday, 1:30-6:15 pm: Veronica Sanchis Bencomo & Lam Wai Kit.
Capacity: 16 photographers
Venue: WMA Space, 8/F, 23-29 Wing Wo Street, Chun Wo Commercial Centre, Central, Hong Kong
We can receive a maximum of 16 photographers, with up to four places reserved for WMA alumni. (We apologize for the limited number of spots, as we have to maintain safe social distance for all parties attending this event at WMA Space)
How to apply:
- Select 10-15 images from up to 2 projects
- Prepare a short description of your body of work and a short biography
- File format: JPG, 72ppi, 2000px longest edge
- Put everything in a zipped folder titled as your surname_name.zip
- Send the zip files to [email protected] with the subject line “Portfolio Review Application”. Please specify your preference and availability of the review date
- Please submit by 11 pm on Apr 20 at the latest
Results will be announced on Apr 24. Selected applicants will be asked to secure their spot with a contribution of two photos to the WMA Open online archive and a deposit at HKD200 (to be refunded on the day, upon completion of the review session). Ko Chi Keung, Alfred
Born in Hong Kong and studied photography at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Canada. Ko founded the FOTOCINE School of Photography and the Photo Centre in late 70s and he was named ‘Photographer of the Year’ by the Hong Kong Artists’ Guild in 1992. Ko is a founding member and Honorable member of the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers (HKIPP ). He is also a founding member, former chairman (2013 – 2017 ) and current Honorary Chairman of Hong Kong International Photo Festival (HKIPF).
Wong Kai Yu, Blues
Blues Wong is a photography critic and independent curator. His literature was selected for Daido Moriyama’s ‘Reflection and Refraction’ exhibition catalogue; he is a contributor for Hong Kong section of Martin Parr and WassinkLundgren’s ‘The Chinese Photobook: From the 1900s to the Present’ (Aperture, 2015). Wong is the museum expert advisor (Hong Kong photography) for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Veronica Sanchis Bencomo
Veronica Sanchis Bencomo is a Spanish-Venezuelan photographer, curator and art writer based in Hong Kong. She graduated in 2010 with a BA Photojournalism at the University of Wales Trinity Saint Davis. During 2010, Bencomo was nominated photographer of the year, the Guardian Student Media Awards, and the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales Photographic Portrait Commission 2010. Her images have appeared in Bloomberg, Monocle magazine, YLE News website, Helsinki Sanomat (Helsinki, Finland) and AFP. She founded Foto Féminas in 2014, which promotes the works of female Latin American and Caribbean photographers.
Lam Wai Kit
Graduated with an MFA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003, and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, UK in 1996. She is a lecturer of “Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Photography” at the University of Hong Kong, School of Professional and Continuing Education. Her media included photography, video art, text, sound and installation. She was awarded “Second award: III Certamen d’Arts Plàstiques Ciutat de Felanitx 2017”, Felanitx, Spain.
